About Mike Velazquez

As Member Services Coordinator, Mike serves as the Members’ point of contact when it comes to various services and programs. Additionally, he organizes activities and services, liaises with internal and external business partners, provides information through periodic newsletters and emails, conducts research and analyses, answers queries, and assists with the resolution of issues should any arise.  

Mike is enthusiastic about aiding and serving as an effective resource to all Members and the rest of Academy team, always with a great attitude and keen desire to provide a pleasant experience.

Professional Experience

Before joining the American Academy family, Mike worked 3.5 years in recruitment for multiple staffing agencies supporting the Professional Services and Industrial and Manufacturing industries. He also spent 3.5 years in Vietnam working as an English as a Second Language educator for K-12 students.

Education

Mike attended San Diego State University, majoring in International Business, as well as obtained a TESOL certification.

Personal

Born in Tijuana, Mexico, Mike has lived in San Diego for over 20 years. One of his passions is traveling as he has been able to visit a total of 50 countries. Reading, jogging by the beach, and cooking are some of his favorite pastimes.
