About Chelsea Chenellechelsea@aaepa.com
As the Administrative Assistant for Projects and Event Planning, Chelsea helps carry out Leadership’s vision for events. Her research for the department keeps Academy events engaging and current. She brings her detail-oriented approach to work during all phases of event implementation to ensure a quality experience for both Member events and internal staff events. Her measure of success is directly related to Membership’s enjoyment of an event. Chelsea has been part of the Academy team since 2020.
Chelsea previously worked in Administration and Development in the non-profit sector, writing grants and organizing fundraising events. She also participated in the highly selective paid internship program at The Getty Center in Los Angeles. Prior to that, she worked as the Managing Editor for her University’s award-winning publication, while also working Summers at San Diego’s Corvette Diner.
Chelsea graduated summa cum laude from Loyola Marymount University, with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History, and is a member of Alpha Sigma Nu. While at Loyola Marymount University, she worked at the newspaper all four years; participated in their Undergraduate Research Program looking at gender inequity on college campuses; and spent time in Jordan learning from grassroots organizations addressing the needs of the refugee community.
Born and raised in San Diego, Chelsea attended college in Los Angeles. While she had no intention of staying beyond her college days, she met her now-husband six months before graduating. She still lives in Los Angeles with her husband, now with a few extra roommates – her son Oliver and her furry son Kirby, the Shiba Inu. While her free time may be few and far between, when she has it she loves going on long walks and discovering new music.
