About Erin Mathew

As Director of the Projects and Event Planning Department, Erin is responsible for the planning and execution of the Academy’s educational Membership Summits and workshops, project-based work at the Academy, and keeping the PEP in the Academy’s office culture.
Professional Experience
Prior to the Academy, Erin was the Events Manager for SMS.ac, an internet company specializing in social networking and digital content. There, she coordinated national and international trade shows, sales seminar tours, and quarterly company retreats. She also pioneered camaraderie programs including bi-monthly Olympic Events for the 200+ employees, as well as, incentive trips to reward the company’s top performers.
Education
Erin attended the University of San Diego where she graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Communication Studies and an emphasis in Media Studies. She was a member of The National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Lambda Pi Eta, the Communication Studies Honors Society.
Erin holds a Virtual Event & Meeting Management certification, a Pandemic On-Site Protocol certification, and an Enhancing Events with AI certification from the Event Leadership Institute. The Event Leadership Institute has been approved by the Events Industry Council (EIC) as a Preferred Provider of continuing education courses. As of September 2021, Erin is a Certified Trainer in Developing and Implementing an Outward Mindset from The Arbinger Institute.
Personal
Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Erin ventured to Southern California to further her education. She fell in love with the lifestyle of San Diego and decided to stay permanently after receiving her degree. Erin enjoys spending time with her husband, Chris, and their son, Cameron. You’ll find them at the beach or hiking the trails near their home with their dog, Rickey. Her hobbies include baking, decorating and reading.
