About Mike Velazquez

As Member Program Coordinator, Mike supports Academy Members by coordinating their participation in Academy programs and trusted vendor partnerships. He manages enrollments, tracks engagement and performance, and assists with questions or issues to ensure participating firms stay organized and on track.

Mike collaborates across teams to ensure program offerings are clearly communicated and accessible. By maintaining clear processes and consistent follow-through, he helps create a smooth experience for Members engaging with Academy programs.

Professional Experience

Before joining the American Academy family, Mike spent 4 years in recruitment with multiple staffing agencies supporting the Professional Services, Industrial, and Manufacturing industries. Prior to that, he lived in Vietnam for 3.5 years, working as an English as a Second Language educator for K-12 students. These experiences strengthened his communication skills, cultural awareness, and ability to build meaningful professional relationships.

Education

Mike attended San Diego State University, majoring in International Business, and earned his TESOL certification.

Personal

Born in Mexico, Mike spent most of his life in San Diego before relocating to the central United States. He has a passion for travel and has visited 50 countries. In his free time, he enjoys reading and cycling, and spending time with his pup, Lily.
