As a Member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys, law firms have a wide range of benefits to offer their clients. For example, Members can provide their clients access to a nationwide network of qualified attorneys who can assist them with out-of-state title transfers, provide help should their clients move to another state, or help with something as simple as a referral to an out-of-state friend or family member who needs estate planning assistance.
The Academy expects Members to complete at least 36 hours of continuing legal education each year specifically in estate, tax, probate and/or elder law subjects. To ensure this goal is met, the Academy provides over 36 hours of continuing legal education each year. The Academy has been recognized as a consumer legal source and has been quoted in numerous publications, such as Money Magazine, Smart Money, CNN Money, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, among others.
The Academy Fellows program is another way a number of our distinguished Members stand out in their communities. Academy Fellows must undergo peer review by at least three legal professionals and demonstrate substantial practical experience in handling no less than 180 legal matters in five distinct practice areas.
