About Randy Murray
randy.murray@aaepa.comAs a member of the technical support department, Randy provides support and training for the Academy’s Proprietary Software, CounselPro™. He designs and creates training material, plans and conducts training sessions, and troubleshoots member software issues. As project manager, Randy oversees the development and deployment of new software projects and upgrades, including CounselPro™ 8, the new cloud-based version of the Academy’s proprietary Estate Planning software.
Professional Experience
Prior to joining the Academy, Randy worked as a Senior Trainer and Desktop Support Analyst for the prestigious San Diego-based law firm Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP. In that role, he supported and trained on a broad spectrum of software applications, including MS Office, SharePoint, and virtualized desktops. He also managed software project development, including a sophisticated client matter intake system, and brought cloud-based data rooms and file storage capabilities to the firm’s clients.
Randy began his training career after a brief stint in the U.S. Navy. He has provided training to thousands of students in classroom settings, remote learning environments, and individual coaching sessions. He has provided training for corporate clients, the U.S. Border Patrol and the Department of Defense in locations throughout the U.S. and abroad in Japan and the Philippines.
Education
Randy earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from National University in 1989. He has attended graduate courses in Instructional Design at San Diego State University (SDSU), and completed Naval Nuclear Power School and Prototype training. Randy has recently furthered his education by taking courses in Emerging Trends & Technologies in the Virtual Classroom (UC Irvine, 2014) and Programming Mobile Apps for Android (University of Maryland, 2014).
Personal
Randy hails from the great state of Iowa, leaving for California after high school, and has been living in San Diego since 1980. He has four children (three girls and a boy), and two dogs: long hair dachshund rescue mutts. He is an avid sports fan, cheering enthusiastically for the San Diego Padres and Chargers, SDSU Aztecs football and basketball, and LSU Tigers football. Geaux Tigers!
