As Practice Building Consultant, Kathryn coaches Academy Members on all aspects related to setting and accomplishing their business goals. Strategic planning is a cornerstone of this coaching and includes guidance on creating a mission and vision for their firm, as well as setting short-term and long-term goals.
Kathryn is passionate about guiding Members through the process of creating a marketing plan to achieve their goals and reach unprecedented success. Members also rely on her coaching on various strategic business decisions such as staffing, compensation, personal consultation skills, expansion, partnerships, and other leadership oriented topics. She also enjoys the creative aspects of her role which include creating new training programs, marketing and advertising materials, and other resources for the benefit of the Membership.
Kathryn joined the Academy team in 2011 as the Academy’s Marketing Manager in the Membership Recruitment Department before taking on the role of Practice Building Consultant.
With over 12 years of Marketing, Management, Public Relations and Sales experience, Kathryn brings a well-rounded skill set to her position as Practice Building Consultant. Before joining the Academy, Kathryn worked for a Public Relations Agency where she was responsible for developing ongoing branding and marketing campaigns for a variety of clients. This included development of print, digital, and direct response materials as well as workflow and client maintenance systems.
Kathryn was also a branch manager for a major retail company while attending college, where she was responsible for managing a team of over 80 employees, setting and achieving quarterly sales goals, maintaining a balanced point of sale system, and regular inventory assessment.
Kathryn attended Illinois State University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations and Sociology. She was a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and maintains a membership with the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
Kathryn was raised in South Carolina and ventured to Illinois to attend college. After graduation, Kathryn struck out on her own and moved to San Diego in search of sunnier days. She currently lives in Monterey, California with her husband Kyle and their dog, Riley. She enjoys hiking, running, free diving, scuba diving, and practicing and teaching yoga. Kathryn also has a passion for music, art history, and old Hollywood movies.
