Recently, Facebook announced a change to the algorithm that determines what a user sees in their newsfeed, now emphasizing content shared by family and friends over posts from law firms, news organizations and other company pages.
In his Facebook post, CEO Mark Zuckerberg explained, “Recently we’ve gotten feedback from our community that public content — posts from businesses, brands and media — is crowding out the personal moments that lead us to connect more with each other.”
With posts that facilitate those meaningful people-to-people connections and interactions now being prioritized, law firms can expect fewer people to be shown content from their Facebook pages, unless that content is shared and talked about among friends.
But here’s the good news: There’s an easy way for people to keep your content at the top of their newsfeed!
Here are the easy steps you can share with your fans:
Once they’ve liked your page, your fan simply needs to click on the arrow in the upper right corner of their profile
Select “Manage Newsfeed Preferences”
Select “Prioritize who to see first” and select your law firm page from the list
Click Done
Remember, posts that spark conversations and meaningful interactions among people will be prioritized over public content in the newsfeed, so it’s more important than ever to ensure that your Facebook posts are engaging. In addition to educational legal content, mix it up with some inspirational, funny, personal, and community-related info!
